By car. Many villages in tuscany are difficult to reach; Sarteano instead is well connected and easy to find. The A1 motorway exit Chiusi-Chianciano is less than 10 minutes away, and immediately outside the toll booth you can easily see the signs to Sarteano.
By train. The nearest train station is Chiusi – Chianciano (12km)
By plane. The nearest airports are: Amerigo Vespucci – Florence (140 km); Rome Fiumicino (160 km)
The village of Sarteano is full of evidences of an ancient history. This beautiful village dating back to Etruscan age still follows the strict medieval traditions of Siena. Neighborhoods are divided into “contrade” (districts), which each summer compete in the famous Giostra del Saracino (the Palio of Sarteano), where the winner becomes hero for a day and the whole village is involved in a party that never seems to end.
This campsite in Tuscany is located at 573 meters above sea level and halfway between Florence and Rome; both cities can be reached by train for a perfect day trip. Not far away is Mount Amiata, that dominates the landscape of southern Tuscany, dotted with the villages of Montepulciano, Cetona and Montalcino, famous for their wine and craft excellences.
